Anita comes from the west to eat with the colony several times a week. I know that the neighbors to the west care for her, but she is independent. I expect that she is a great mouser and snake killer for their barn and cattle. She is sweet with me, enjoying attention and being petted, but she does not allow the other cats to come close to her. Growl, hiss, and clawed swat to any cat within reach. She has a strong preference for canned food and I'll often set some aside in a smaller bowl to give her and the rest of the cats peace while they eat.
The end of her tail has been cropped. During the winter I noticed a bare section with a wound. Over a few weeks it looked infected and the part beyond the wound looked worse, necrotic. It was easy to coax her near a pet carrier and push her in. The vet cropped it back to the healthy part, still leaving her much of a tail. Hair has taken a long time to fill back in, but it is finally covered with a normal coat.
Richard has not been seen since his release after being neutered, but it is normal for these cats to remain hidden for a few days after their trip to the vet. I do expect to see him soon, but I am not 'watching' for him. All the cats seem to be healthy and doing well - I just want to get Kim to stay close enough that I can give her a good brushing. Walter White may let me brush him soon. He allows me to pet him as he eats now. He may be the smallest of the cats, very close in size to Minnie.
