Sasha's Four Kittens Trapped
November 25th I trapped all four of Sasha's kittens. In the week leading up to trapping them, I put their food at the open edge of the trap. They began to confidently enjoy the special food placed just for them. When I had an opportune day to bring them to the vet, I set two traps with the food all the way inside and trigger set. I had though that I was going to catch two of them, but in moments, I had two kittens in one trap and another in the second trap. The fourth kitten had not shown up and I thought three was a great success. As I dropped them off at the vet, I suddenly realized that it would be quite difficult to trap and separate the fourth kitten after releasing these three. It was one of the 'twins' and very difficult to identify between the two - the most significant difference being a slight amber tint to the coat of one, while the other is more gray.
As soon as I returned home from the vet, I set another trap for the remaining kitten. Good fortune was with me and within ten minutes, I had the fourth and was on my way back to the vet.
Back home from the vet, they spent the night in my house in a large dog crate for release the following afternoon. Knowing their genders now, we gave them names - all starting with 'N' since it was November.
Top to bottom; Nixon, Nova, Natalie, and Nora.
Caught in the act. Attempting to escape the crate:
After their release they were quickly rejoined with their mother, Sasha. Perhaps an odd thing: before I trapped and released Sasha's kittens she would usually raise her hair and hiss when I brought her food. Now she sits calmly as she watches her kittens eat.
