Pablo's Kittens Trapped

I trapped two of Pablo's kittens (Walter White and Dora) in mid-November. I had the drop trap at the back of the Prius. With some patience, they were easy to trap. The third kitten (Catey Purry) is a lot more cautious. I had her in the trap at one point and she managed to scurry out while I was getting her into the transfer trap.

Bobbie checking out the drop trap:

I trapped Walter and Dora in the evening and kept them together in a large dog crate overnight. In the morning, I quickly realized that it was not going to be easy to get them from the crate into carriers, so I brought the whole crate to the vet. That evening when I picked them up from spay and neuter, the vet kindly asked me not to bring them in like that again, as he also had a very difficult time extracting them.

Walter and Dora:

Feral cats need to fully recover from anesthesia before they are released outside. Especially in cold weather where they cannot self-regulate their temperature until the drugs have all cleared their system. I kept Walter and Dora in the crate overnight again and released them the next day when the temperature had warmed.

I am still going to trap Catey Purry. I make a few attempts every week as time allows. She is more wary of the trap than she was before, so it takes patience and persistence. Hopefully I'll have her to the vet before she is pregnant. Walter and Dora are doing great and I see them every day as the eat on the cul de sac under a Prius.
