Heading to work this morning, as I opened the gate, Bobbie came trotting down the street from the north. She walked to the gate and greeted me. Patrick came from the street to the west and kept a slight distance - he is becoming more comfortable being near me, but does not make physical contact. I was not in a rush, so I walked with Bobbie to the feeding area on the cul de sac where the food had been out for about 20 minutes. Pablo was already there finishing up her morning meal.
We stopped about ten feet short of the food bowls. Bobbie rubbed on my ankle and I bent down to pet her. Pablo walked away from the food. She met Patrick in the middle of the cul de sac and after a brief nose-to-nose he hissed at her. I called their names and they split up. Pablo came to me and Patrick wandered off. Bobbie, Pablo and I walked to the food bowls and they negotiated over which bowl each would have. Pablo is still nursing kittens that I have never seen.
I plan to trap Pablo to spay very soon. Her kittens should be old enough to be without her for an afternoon. There is risk that they will wander too far or become prey, but I don't want to wait too long. It seems that I have waited too long for Sasha and she is pregnant again. Not that I actually waited, but my few attempts were fruitless and I haven't had time available to keep at it.
