I have some simple 'warming boxes' placed outside in addition to the insulated plastic storage box shelters that I have had under the holly trees. They are cardboard boxes that food came in from Chewey. I double them up with one inside another and put a heating pad on the bottom covered with soft padding. I have seen Bobbie use the one that I have outside the back door. I put another one up the hill in back outside the fenced area where my dogs can wander. With a trail camera I found that four cats have investigated it. It didn't look like any of them spent the night inside, but on a colder night, they will know where it is.
These cardboard boxes are temporary and I intend to replace them with some shelters made from old coolers similar to this:
