Cats at the Door

Cold weather. After I fed the ferals last night, Thomas showed up at the back door. He sat there a long time looking through the glass at us and our house cats. Our cats looked back at him and didn't seem to mind.

Bobbie showed up a little later. She is the mother of our two youngest cats. I know that Sasha is still close with her kittens that were born about the same time and I wonder if there is still a bond with Bobbie and her kittens. They looked at each other through the glass, but did not interact for long.

I will not let them in. They are friendly to me, but they are wild animals. They have no knowledge of indoor protocols. I put a cardboard box with padding out there for them and left the garage back door cracked open. In the morning, Thomas was out and about when I set food on the cul de sac. Bobbie showed up late and came from the direction of the garage.

In other news, my evening feeding was delayed about two hours due to a late flight. When I went to the spring to put the food out, there was a skunk sitting with the cats. It was acting normal, mixed in with them and I wouldn't have noticed it was a skunk if I hadn't seen the narrower set eyes and shined a light towards it.
