Some updates...
I saw the 'phantom cat' in daylight. An adult cat with a smooth dark gray coat. Pretty sure now that it is Smokey and that he's getting leftover food from the cul de sac bowls. I'm glad he's still around. I hadn't seen him clearly since he was released after being neutered.
Feedings have become more crowded. Sasha's kittens are all always there now. Counting the ones watching from a distance until I leave and a few that come over from the neighbor's yard to the east, I have seen as many as twenty cats.
Pictured above L to R Minnie, Rita, Thomas, Kim, Lina, and Anita.
Below, here's a picture of Mamma Sasha watching me and her kittens. I am still unsuccessful at trapping her.
Anita is a recent arrival. I don't know her origin. On the first night I saw her, she walked right up to the food and started gulping it down as I put it in the bowls. I reached to touch her and she rubbed against my hand. She fended off other cats who came to eat with her at first. A couple days later I easily picked her up - she wanted down after a moment, so I released her. Does she have a home? She runs towards me now and follows me to the bowls.
Our adopted kittens Una and PJ were spayed this week. Una recovered quickly, but PJ hid and was nearly impossible to find for a whole day. We worried. They are both almost back to normal now, 2-1/2 days later.
Other notes: Tanya has been attacking Bobbie at feedings - Bobbie leaves. Boot has been eating at the cul de sac, waiting until I step back to at least a ten foot distance. Fluffy has been coming over to the area of the spring more often. He keeps his distance from me, but doesn't run. I want to get a good look at his injured eye and see how well it healed. I'll need a telephoto lens.
