Skunks

 

At least one pair of skunks live with the cats. I have seen them go in and out of the dens around the outflow area of the storm drain. In the past, I saw them occasionally after sunset when the cats weren't eating. Recently they have been very consistent about showing up 5 to 10 minutes after sunset.

The cats are very relaxed around them. I have seen Betty, Ranger, and Minnie all laying on the platform over the spring watching a skunk eat from the bowl a foot or two away. If they get along with the cats, I don't have a problem with it. The skunks belong in the habitat more than the cats do. I am not planning to trap them for spay and neuter.
