There will always be Kittens
Minnie was at the evening feeding last night. She had been absent for three days. It was good to see her. I expect that she has been busy with growing kittens, now about four weeks old. My feeding schedule is not always their best eating schedule.
Sasha has been absent for two days. I expect that she has had her kittens now.
I hope to trap and spay Sally as soon as I have time available. Trapping works best on a weekday morning so I can bring them straight to the vets office. I'd like to have her spayed before there are even more kittens in the colony. I'll wait to trap Sasha and Minnie until their kittens are about 8 weeks old.
It's a dangerous world for feral kittens. By my observation, less than half survive the first six months. When I can find them, I try to capture them and find people to adopt them. At about 8 weeks old, they can easily adapt to life with humans. When they are over 12 weeks old they are more independent and resistant to being cuddly little house creatures.

There will always be more kittens. Even if I spay and neuter every cat in the colony that I care for, more will come in from the surrounding area.
Two 'joined' cats spotted on my way to work:
Seen and unseen cats are everywhere in towns and cities. I don't own the land where most of the colony lives and I don't like to intrude on other neighbor's property without being invited. One time when I was feeding the cats, I was greeted by two women from a local historical society who were looking at the old spring. When I explained what I do there, they called me a guardian. I can't help all the city's cats, but I can be a guardian of the ones that are nearby.
